THROWBACK THURSDAY Tapestries by Shanne

Throwback Thursday Tapestries by Shanne was one of Paxton Signs’ first dimensional signs, dating back to 1987. But, first, a brief note about Shanne Hilleman. She still designs tapestries, or Soft Media as she calls her craft. Fiber arts continue to be her main focus. However, as an accomplished musician, she also teaches piano and pursues other skills and interests. For example, she practices courtroom steno writing, art education, and Spanish and social issues. How we made the Throwback Thursday Tapestries by Shanne sign

We designed Tapestries by Shanne in 1987. It measured approximately 4′ x 2.5′. We custom-shaped and sandblasted it in high density urethane. For emphasis, we hand-painted the background surface in a deep blue, faux finish.  Darker shading surrounded the different groupings of cream-white letters. Rust and orange trim grounded the dark blue background, adding a colorful contrast. You can view more of Paxton Signs’ sandblasted signs at Pinterest, https://www.pinterest.com/boliver0474/
