Located in historic Custer County, Colorado, our Throwback Thursday Lamp Post Lodge sign is in the town of Westcliffe. The town is home to an abundance of passionate stargazers. While there are several awe-inspiring stargazing spots in the area, the Lamp Post Lodge offers “dark-sky” mountain lodging in the heart of the Wet Mountain Valley, at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It boasts crisp linens, cozy atmosphere, fresh mountain air, majestic panoramic views, and, of course, those stars!
The Lamp Post can accommodate individuals or group events, offering the entire hotel property for large gatherings. It’s a convenient short walk from Westcliffe’s Main Street. Visit their web site at: http://www.lamppostlodge.com.
Here’s how we produced this week’s Throwback Thursday Lamp Post Lodge sign:
In 2011, Paxton Signs designed the Lamp Post Lodge sign remotely, via the Internet. We’ve never had the pleasure of personally meeting the owners, Dick and Barb Jones. However, because they are serious business owners and community leaders, working with them on-line and in phone conversations made our collaboration smooth and seamless.
Paxton Signs produced the 2-sided highway sign in-house, sizing MDO signboard plywood to fit within the Lodge’s existing brick piers. We designed the sign to be dimensional. We did this by featuring the lamp post graphic on a raised surface. The dark blue background highlights the word “Lodge.” The sign’s colors blend nicely with the brick piers. We double-coated all the surfaces with high-quality, outdoor latex paint. This was necessary to withstand the sign’s exposed location.
We specialize in Communication Art!
Paxton Signs’ more than 39 year history includes hundreds of signs. Some are major monument signs, some small business signs. We’ve created ranch signs, lighted signs and signs made from recycled wood. We specialize in hand-painted and carved signs. We also offer vehicle and fleet graphics. Paxton Signs provides a continuous variety of communication art to Fort Collins, northern Colorado and the surrounding mountain areas.
