Nationally, Colorado ranks 9th in horse ownership. Amazingly, the majority of those owners live in northeastern Colorado!
Hillcrest Farm is one of the industry’s many horse boarding and training centers, located near Fort Collins. And, they needed a small business custom sign and identity; one to fit their specialized endeavor.
Building Hillcrest Farm’s small business custom sign
We’ve been building Hillcrest’s signs since 1999. Additionally, we letter their fleet graphics. We designed the Hillcrest identity to reflect the quality service they provide.
The process started when we presented them with design approaches for their site signage and vehicles. The sign shown, above, is the result of the initial design process that involved choosing typeface, art elements, and determining gold leaf usage. Dark green was their color choice, combined with a tasteful use of gold leaf letters and decorative art elements.
We sandblasted the 3′ x 5′ dimensional entrance sign using a sturdy sheet of high-density urethane instead of wood. High-density urethane is superior to wood because it is lighter, more durable, more available, and even looks more like textured wood than wood! This is because we control the consistency and depth of the wood grain during the sandblasting process. The various borders, colors and graphic elements add interest. Finally, gold-leaf letters and artistic trim give the sign its strong graphic elegance.
