Sometimes, business address signs are the only signs you need. So, why not make them memorable! One of our valued clients, Arenus Animal Health, decided to do just that. A large, visible North Link Lane address sign is exactly what they needed to direct customers to their entrance in an otherwise generic industrial building.

Initially, we had to keep in mind their preference for natural tones and colors, yet honor their contemporary monument sign. So, we designed a business address sign that combines both elements. Pictured, above, is the finished address sign that features a water-jet cut disc (it looks domed but it’s actually flat!) made from 3/16″ plate aluminum. Also, the letters are water-jet cut from the same material. The letters and the disk are fastened to the background panel using screws as spacers. In addition, the back panel is made from aluminum composite material.

A detail photo of the ACM disc, below, shows the water-jet cutouts of the address numbers. As mentioned, the entire disc and letter cutouts are attached by using screw spacers.

Dimensional or painted?

There are many options and materials available in the sign industry, ranging from High Density Urethane (HDU) to Aluminum Composite Material (ACM), and just about everything in between. Remember, sandblasted surfaces and layered elements add interesting dimension to signs of any size.

Paint colors and finishes are never problems if color is what you’re after. For example, we use premium automotive paint on most types of aluminum materials. Finishes range from satin to high gloss, as shown on the North Link Lane address sign. Additionally, on other materials like HDU, we always triple-coat exterior latex paints, usually for flat or eggshell finishes.

Alternately, as in the North Link Lane sign, address signs can also be water-jet cut into metal, creating a simple, metallic statement that will last decades.

The finished and installed North Link Lane dimensional address sign is shown below. It measures 27″ x 53″. The sign’s paint colors pick up the natural colors in the building’s stone finish.
