Wild Side Smoke Shop

Wild Side Smoke Shop wanted a 1960’s look for their new lighted storefront sign. Since space and design restrictions always have to be considered, the sign had to be simple and effective, yet interesting and visually compelling by passersby. In addition, the customer’s visual ideas have to be considered. Not to worry! We found the perfect font up to the challenge: “Hip Pocket,” a typeface that is both bold and definitely 60’s retro, filled the bill. With just a little manipulation to improve spacing and readability, the design was ready for production as a lighted storefront sign. At this point, we turned it over to Tom Meyer at Accent Signs in Loveland, CO. Channel letter production is one of his specialties.

Tomato red, please!

Once finished, channel-lettering requires illumination by backlighting it with an LED light source. Then, the tomato red color is applied by custom-cutting the red vinyl to specified lettering dimensions. This includes the letters and the banner below them. Together, these two elements create a bright, dominating graphic. The finished sign is highly visible day or night. All in all, the bold, retro letters and the anchoring red and white banner create a commanding presence.
